Overview of Role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly talented, passionate, and hands-on Mid-Level Unity Programmer. In this role, you will be involved from concept to completion helping drive the development of new games, being engaged in coding gameplay elements which contribute to an amazing experience on both existing and future titles.

You also will work closely with game designers, artists, and animators in defining the core gameplay systems of the title, such as player progression, UI, interaction, inventory management, bug fixing and player movement/controls. In addition, you will identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to increase productivity and creative freedom.


Main Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for architecting, implementing, improving, and extending game features and in particular, procedural systems.

  • Develop and implement innovative procedural generation systems within Unity, enhancing gameplay, environment variability, and overall player experience in various game projects.

  • Hands on programming, taking ownership of specific company codebases across multiple projects.

  • Collaborate closely with designers, other engineers, and artists.

  • Identify and resolve complex bugs in procedural and other gameplay systems, focusing on optimising performance and enhancing player engagement.

  • Actively share insights and techniques on procedural generation with the team.

  • Author technical designs and best practices.

  • Ensure that the best practices, development processes, and coding standards are followed.

  • Research new software and industry techniques and share with the studio teams.

  • Participate in relevant client meetings and offer construction feedback and suggestions.

  • Ownership of your schedule ensuring that your tasks come in on time and under budget.

What We Are Looking For:

Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience.

  • Computer Science Degree is essential.

  • 1 shipped title.

  • Strong Unity Knowledge.

  • Procedural Generation experience is a distinct advantage.

  • Shader experience is a distinct advantage.

Personal:

  • Able to follow instructions and react quickly to feedback.

  • Able to handle shifting schedules, priorities, and multiple projects.

  • Show exceptional attention to detail in your work.

  • Be willing to learn, take on new responsibilities and evolve your skill set.

  • Be a team player.

  • Willing to pass on knowledge and support the people around you.

  • Be an ambassador for Milky Tea and its brand inside and outside of the workplace.

  • Critical thinking and able to apply analytical skills to find simple, robust and efficient solutions to complex issues.

What We Offer: 

  • We offer fully remote working.

  • We have a flexitime working policy, core working hours are between 10am to 4pm.

  • You will receive 28 days holiday per year, inclusive of bank holidays, and an additional 1 days paid holiday “Birthday Bunk Day” per year.

  • After 2 years of continuous service, your holiday entitlement will increase year-on-year by one extra day’s holiday up to a maximum of five additional days.
